IT TOOK HIM A MOMENT to process what Shireen had just said to him. Spinning around dramatically on his heel, the Devil put his hands on his hips and looked down at her, confusion (and SURPRISE) lacing his features.
“… WHAT?” He’d never been told that before, not by anyone. “… what did you just say?”
She beamed up at him brightly, “Have fun, Ser Devil!” The child knew that he had been having a difficult time of late with the cup brothers, and wanted to see her friend smile. “I’m looking forward to hearing all about your day when you get home!”
To Shireen, if nothing else, the adult’s stories were always fascinating, and he often seemed to put an amusing spin on them too.
❛ i know how hard this is for you, but i’m here if you need anything. ❜ ❛ you did everything you could. ❜ ❛ honestly, it’s impressive that you’re still standing after everything that has happened. ❜ ❛ you’re allowed to feel sad about this. ❜ ❛ i wish you’d told me sooner. you need me and i … i’m so sorry. ❜ ❛ i know you feel like giving up right now, but it’s not gonna solve any of your problems. ❜ ❛ i don’t know how you do it. if it were me, i don’t think i’d have been able to get out of bed today. ❜ ❛ i would like to know what i can do to help. ❜ ❛ it’s totally natural you feel this way. ❜ ❛ i feel for you. this sounds like an impossible situation. ❜ ❛ i know it feels like no one understands, but i’m listening now. ❜ ❛ is there anything you need? anything i can do for you? ❜ ❛ if it were me, i’d be upset too. ❜ ❛ come on, talk to me, please. i can hear it in your voice that something is wrong. ❜ ❛ i’m sorry you are going through this. no one should ever have to go through something like that. ❜ ❛ i can’t even imagine the pain you must be in right now. ❜ ❛ i wish i could make it better. ❜ ❛ if you need someone to talk to, i’ll listen. ❜ ❛ thank you for trusting me with this. it really means a lot to me. ❜ ❛ i understand how hard it is to talk about, but i promise you’ll feel better after you’ve opened up to someone. ❜ ❛ how are you feeling? do you need any help? ❜ ❛ you are so brave, and i’m incredibly proud of you. ❜ ❛ what do you need? ❜ ❛ i’m here for you. no matter where or when i’ll always be here for you. ❜ ❛ i can’t believe how strong you are, this must be taking everything out of you. ❜ ❛ i don’t know how you do it. how are you able to stay so strong when everything around you is falling apart? ❜ ❛ this must be so confusing and frustrating for you, and i wish i could do more to help. ❜ ❛ you’re managing this so much better than i ever could. ❜ ❛ i can’t even begin to imagine how you must be feeling, this is just awful. ❜ ❛ you have no idea just how many people are rooting for you. ❜ ❛ you’re so strong for everything you’ve been through. ❜ ❛ i care about you, and i want to help you … if you let me. ❜ ❛ i’ll make sure you’ll never have to go through anything like this again. ❜ ❛ i don’t know how you feel, but i want you to know that i care about you and am here for you. ❜ ❛ it’s okay if you don’t want to talk about it. maybe we can just sit here for a while instead. ❜ ❛ you don’t have to talk about it if you don’t want to. but i’m here for you when you decide you do. ❜ ❛ whatever you need, i’m just one phone call away. ❜ ❛ how are you holding up? ❜ ❛ you’re gonna get through this. i believe in you. ❜ ❛ i promise you, it will get better after time. ❜
@shireentheunburnt asked: To The Devil: ❛ i’m here for you. no matter where or when i’ll always be here for you. ❜
“HMPH.” The Devil didn’t do well with sympathy, not even from those he was closest to. This included Shireen. Although he UNDERSTOOD the sentiment, it didn’t stop him from being angry. “How… NICE of you.” The sarcasm was clearly dripping from his words. He didn’t want to be rude to Shireen; he normally wasn’t, but he was in a foul mood, and he was THE DEVIL.
Shireen took no offence to the Devil’s mood nor tone, not believing there to be any malice to either. Instead, she smiled and offered him a sandwich from her lunch bag. “Would you like one of these, Ser Devil? I was thinking of you so prepared them with devilled ham. I think they are quite tasty. Is it another invention of yours?”
What would be your greatest mistake then your greatest decision you've ever had to make as a person. (IC prompt)
Shireen was quiet for a moment, staring away at nothing. “The former leads into the latter. Trusting my father, then making the choice to leave him behind when the men came for mother and me knowing he would not follow. We both left each other to die in the end…”
Shireen had been in the Underworld for a little while now, and rest had done much to soothe the worst of her disorientation and the weakness that had been left in her… limbs? Were what she had still called those given that she no longer lived? She had no other term to use, so she supposed they must be something of the kind if not those exactly still. Tapping her poor, damaged stag upon her leg to make it dance and trot, she gazed without really seeing around the room about her. She had settled in what appeared to be a library of sorts in Hades’ palace, surrounded by books on all sides…
Far too many for her to ever dream of reading them all.
It had called to the scholar in her as a place of comfort and peace, but, now she was in it, she did not know truly where to, how to, start.
She was not ready, after Hades’ kindness to her, to go to the place he had judged her to pass on to. The child was reluctant to lose such tenderness so quickly after experiencing it so little in life. With a little sigh, forlorn and griefstricken, the girl shook herself at the sound of the door opening, gaze drawn to it in a curiosity that the fire had failed to burn out of her.
“H… hello?” she greeted softly, trying and not quite succeeding to call a smile to her face and bringing her stag to her instinctively for reassurance. “Who are you, Miss?”
Disbelief and fear had given way to heartbreak and agony. Screaming and begging, struggling and crying… It had all come to naught in the end. Not that the child had expected any different once she had realised what was happening. Once her father had made it clear he was not going to intervene- that, indeed, it was being done at his order- the princess knew she was doomed. What she didn’t understand, really, was why? Her father had said she belonged with him, hadn’t he? That she was his daughter? His princess and heir?
He had loved her, hadn’t he?
Did he love the red woman and her prophecies more? The Throne? Being the Prince?
Had her murder been worth it, in his eyes?
From her mother, she could have understood it with all the pain and disappointment between them, but even Selyse- in a moment that had provided precious solace to her heart- had tried to save her. Cherished her, after all.
A teary smile crossed her face which died almost as soon as it had came to be. Lying down on her side in the place she now found herself, taking in little, she curled up in the foetal position around the stag figurine she had died holding, and sobbed softly to herself…
An rp blog for Shireen Baratheon from Game of Thrones, canon divergent. Despair... You come to me, with your poison and your misery. Death... You come to sting, with your poison and your misery. Fire cannot kill a dragon. Follows show canon, with some elements of the books, and goes AU from the attempted sacrifice of Shireen. Special thanks to dragcnsdaughter for the background image! Blog under construction.
